Gunns Limited Western Australia - Environmental Policy

Gunns is committed to the United Nations definition of sustainable development; that is "development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

We strongly endorse the principles of ecologically sustainable development embodied in the National Forest Policy Statement.  We are committed to working positively with governments and the community in all our activities.

We are committed to the implementation and maintenance of an Environmental Management System that complies with, and is audited to, internationally recognised standards.  Using ISO 14001, we set environmental objectives and targets, which are regularly reviewed as we strive to improve our environmental performance.

As a minimum, we will comply with all environmental legislation, regulations and codes of practice, and seek to exceed them.

We will continue to strive to improve wood fibre recovery from the forest through innovations and by developing uses for waste products.  We will minimise waste and aim to prevent pollution in all our operations.

We will communicate our environmental performance to our employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders, the community and other stakeholders as necessary.
